Minotaur Art

I'm really taken by this piece of art, by Flora of Flaroh Illustration, especially given the special place Pasiphae has in this game. Players may recall the tender moment Asterion has regarding the memory of his mother in one of the labyrinth's rooms. She's only given a fleeting reference in the short story the game is based on, but I felt that I should expand a little on Asterion's parents.

I love this piece. We don't really think of the Minotaur's childhood, of the difficulties of bringing him into the world and of raising him, of the calamities and indignities that led to him getting locked away.

For obvious reasons I was also taken by this statue by Oscar Estruga, called Pasifae. It reminds me of how she appears in the game. I wonder if this is how Asterion imagines her.

The painting I chose as the cover for the game is by George Frederic Watts and is called, appropriately, The Minotaur. It's said that this painting inspired Borges to write the poem.
